For Parents

We aim for our staff, parents/whanau and management to work as one big family. We promote an open-door policy and a communication process that encourages children, staff, management and parents/whanau/caregivers to feel a sense of belonging within our environment.

Little Rose Home-based Childcare offers high-quality early childhood education and care in a friendly and nurturing home-based environment, for children aged 0 to 6 years of age. Our educators provide a safe and stimulating learning environment in their own homes or yours, and work with small groups of children to provide individualised care and learning opportunities.

Educators provide full and part time education and care for up to 4 preschool children at a time, with only up to 2 children under the age of two.  You have the opportunity to choose your educator who is perfect for your child and family.  Regular outings and playgroups are offered by Little Rose Home-based Childcare, and they provide your child the opportunity to experience larger group interactions while being alongside their educator.

We have Programme Coordinators, who are qualified and registered Early Childhood teachers with years of experience.  They will visit homes regularly to work with and alongside you, your Educator, and your child to provide individualised support, guidance and educational resources to make sure your child is receiving educational and enjoyable learning experiences in a warm and caring homely environment.  All our educators are carefully safety checked by using police vetting system and they hold a current First Aid Certificate.

Fee Information

Little Rose Home-based Childcare does not charge a fee for its service. The fees that families are charged are determined by each individual Educator and not by us.

Parent Involvement

PARENTS’ INPUT IS HIGHLY VALUED. WE WANT YOU TO FEEL COMFORTABLE TO SHARE YOUR VIEWS WITH US SO WE CAN WORK TOGETHER TO PROVIDE THE BEST FOR YOUR CHILD.

WE ENCOURAGE PARENTS, WHO ARE EQUAL STAKEHOLDERS IN THE SUCCESS OF CHILDREN, TO TALK TO STAFF AND KNOW THAT THEIR SUGGESTIONS ARE VERY WELCOME.

We promote a range of activities and opportunities so that parents can be involved with the service environment and a child’s learning journey, as follows:

  • We will maintain this website with information relating to curriculum planning, licensing information including ERO report, community notices, parenting articles and upcoming events.
  • Staff will endeavour to welcome every parent into homes and to share information verbally about their child’s day.
  • There will be a communication book for recording and communicating relevant information to parents, and for parents to leave messages or information for educators to read.
  • Parents will be encouraged to spend time with their children in the home and to contribute to the programme.
  • Sleep times are recorded in information books.
  • Medication record forms will be available for parents to fill-in as well as for educators to document any medication given to any child.
  • Accidents, incidents or illnesses will be documented and parents will be informed on the same day and in a timely manner.
  • Email and telephones will be used as tools for positive communication.
  • Staff are bound by confidentiality and are not permitted to release any information concerning another child’s health or behaviour.
  • Staff will provide regular opportunities both formally and informally for parents to discuss their child’s progress, interests, abilities and areas for development, and be involved in decision making concerning their child’s learning.
  • Staff will ensure that parents are fully consulted about any difficulties or concerns they may have with their child and then ensure they are kept well informed of any progress.
  • A learning portfolio is kept for each individual child. This portfolio documents the learning and development of the child, with photographic reflections and includes the child’s interests and individual and group planning.  Parents/whanau are encouraged to contribute to these portfolios through parents/whanau voices.
  • Provision will be made for on-going communication and interaction with parents about the curriculum of the service.
